Because if not, then you probably shouldn’t watch this teaser video for the National Theatre’s production of Frankenstein, directed by Danny Boyle and starring Benedict Cumberbatch and Jonny Lee Miller alternating roles as the Doctor and the Monster:
I’m sorry, what’s that? Your face just melted off with the awesome? Well, don’t say I didn’t warn you.
Also, a big huge thank you to friend Julie, who saved me the price of a plane ticket and discovered that THEY ARE BROADCASTING A PERFORMANCE HERE IN NEW YORK (two, actually, so you can see both versions), which, after I stopped squealing, I bought tickets to (you can buy them at the Skirball Center here – they’re also showing it at BAM and Cinema 1,2,3). I am so excited.
Also, a big huge apology to my illustrious ancestors, who spent centuries living with impeccable dignity to establish the honor of the Chapin/Steinway name, only to produce a girl who, when told that the Benedict Cumberbatch as Doctor and Jonny Lee Miller as Monster (who appears naked) was the better pairing, uttered the sentence “But then we don’t see Cumberpeen!!”
