Few things can be as inspiring as music – the swell of instruments played together, the crescendo rising to a crashing climax. And there have been few pieces of music as purely forceful as Richard Strauss’s ‘Thus Spoke Zarathustra’, nor a pairing of movie and music as effective as the ‘Sunrise’ portion played over the opening of ‘2001: A Space Odyssey’ – even if you don’t know the movie, you probably know this, with it’s powerful ‘dun…dun…dun… DUNDUN!!!’
Well, since it’s Monday, I thought I’d give you all a little reminder of what pure awesome majesty music can provide. Especially when it’s played by a school orchestra.
