Well, we all knew it would happen – musicals are cool again. What other explanation for the following:

Tatum Writing Musical

7 August 2009 6:26 PM, PDT

G.I. Joe: The Rise Of Cobra action star Channing Tatum is writing his own fantasy musical.

The actor showed off his fancy footwork in 2006 movie Step Up and he reveals he’s been working on a song and dance project in his spare time.

But Tatum admits fans won’t get to see the results for some time.

He tells Star magazine, “I’m sort of writing one. It’s kind of a Wizard of Oz or Alice in Wonderland-type story. A fantastical dance-ical – that’s what I like to call it! But it’s still a long way off.”

Well, okay. Either musicals are cool again, or the ‘fantastical dance-ical’-writing Tatum just came out. But, whatever it is, I hope he writes it. And that he includes an extended dance sequence in which he wears no shirt.

"hmm... should La Cage really have beaten Sunday in the Park for that Tony? I'm just not sure."
